This afternoon, Class 1 and 2 enjoyed learning all about the festival of Diwali, the Festival of Lights! 🕯️🌟
The children got creative and explored some of the beautiful traditions associated with Diwali. They made their own colourful candles, designed intricate rangoli patterns and created stunning mehndi designs. 🎨🌸
It was a wonderful afternoon full of creativity, curiosity and learning about different cultures and celebrations. Well done, everyone, for your fantastic efforts and beautiful creations! 💛👏
🎶🙏 Class 1 and 2 Collective Worship – Singing is Praying Twice 🙏🎶
Class 1 and 2 came together for a special time of collective worship, exploring the theme “Singing is Praying Twice.” 🎵
We thought about the words of St Augustine, who reminds us that when we sing our prayers, we are praying twice! We listened to Psalm 96, reflecting on its message to sing to the Lord and praise Him with joyful hearts. ❤️
We finished our time together with a Just Being Prayer, taking a quiet moment to pause, be still and simply spend time with God. 🕊️✨
It was a lovely opportunity to come together in prayer, reflection and song, remembering that we can connect with God in many different ways. 💛
Class 2 have been busy designing and creating their very own moving pictures! 🖍️✂️ The children explored how to use a slider mechanism to bring their pictures to life, showing lots of creativity and imagination along the way. 🖼️➡️
They were so proud to share their fantastic creations with Class 1, who enjoyed seeing the pictures move! It was lovely to see the children sharing their ideas, explaining how their moving pictures worked and celebrating each other’s creations. 🌟👏
We have had a great time exploring pumpkins this week in Class 1. The children have enjoyed using a range of tools to cut into the pumpkins and look at them closely, discussing their texture and smell.
We talked about the different parts of the pumpkin like the flesh and the seeds.
Today, we cut a pumpkin up and roasted it! Not many children enjoyed the taste but we were so proud that everyone had a try. 🎃
Class 1 children have been learning about the Holy Rosary, a special Catholic prayer to help us reflect on the life of Jesus and Mary. They enjoyed making their own rosary bracelets. Some of the children brought in their own rosaries from home to share with their friends.
Classes 1 and 2 have been celebrating 100 years of Winnie the Pooh with bear crowns, a Winnie the Pooh character hunt in our very own Hundred Acre Wood, puppets and storytelling.
We finished our celebrations with party cake and honey bear sandwiches.
Class 4 had the opportunity to use the astro at Ampleforth College today. They developed their hockey skills and received some expert coaching. We are hoping to return soon and take part in some small sided games. ...
