In year 3, children who are baptised Catholics are invited to prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. They prepare for these over a 14 week period, usually on a Saturday morning, with Father Bede, in the parish of Our Lady and Saint Benedict. The children follow a programme called “God’s greatest gift” and are supported by their families at home. The First Holy Communion Mass usually takes place in the month of June, on or near the feast of Corpus Christi.
