There could not be a better way to start life at school than by what we provide at St Benedict’s. The children learn and play in some of the most beautiful school grounds in our picturesque part of North Yorkshire. Combined with such a wonderful classroom environment and ‘mesmerising’ teaching, the children can also fully explore the magnificent school surroundings and learn happily from everything that nature provides.
Our links to the world around us are fully explored and celebrated. With such a truly unique environment to learn in, and with such fantastic space and provision, it is no wonder that the children in our Early Years thrive. Such a positive and happy beginning to their journey in education means that the children are able to fully develop into the positive and confident pupils that we are so proud of.

Welcome to Early Years’ class page!
Class 1 is a mixed nursery and reception class.
At our Nursery there are two sessions – morning and afternoon
(with the option of children attending 12.00-12.30 for lunchtime). Parents are able to choose which session their child attends. At some times in the year, children will be invited to attend at the same time – for example our Christmas party and end of year trip.

The children all have access to indoor and outdoor provision at all times through a largely play based learning environment.
To enable this to be effective, we follow an ‘In the Moment Planning’ approach alongside weekly topic and RE inputs for children to explore a range of topics.
During your child’s time in the Early Years Foundation Stage they will be working towards meeting the Early Learning Goals set by the Department for Education.
